For those of you who fancy a lovely little day trip with a difference, easy to do and reasonably close by in the car from the villa at Pleamar 30.
From #Pleamar30holidayrental it’s an easy drive of about 40 minutes to the southernmost edge of the Mar Menor – to a tiny town called Los Nietos.
When you get to Los Nietos, you can park your car at the station at no charge.
From there you board the train – it’s the local line Renfe for a 28-minute trip to Central Cartegena. The cost is 2.50€ for a return ticket.
The train journey is fab in itself, it takes you through tiny villages with stunning views of the Mar Menor.
When you get to Cartagena, you can wander around the port and the old town.
There are many places to stop for lunch. If you fancy a traditional Bodega there’s the Bodega La Fuente for tapas and a glass of wine 🍴🥘 🍷
For a leisurely stroll after lunch, there’s a stunning walk via the Roman Theatre, with glorious views over the bay once you reach the top over.
And finally, as you bring your day trip to Cartagena to a close, take a slow amble back to the station for the return journey.
